My son and I just got certified early in May. Joined the PDRA. Going to Blanch quarry on the 15th. I'm going for nitrox on the 17th. We're divin' right on in.

Glad you found us! This is a great place to spend your SI, but watch out, it's addictive!

Some of your neighbours hang out in NC Wreck Divers

You are going to be so glad you found this board. I have been diving for 15 years, yet have learned so much in the short time I have been on SB.

My father and I are dive buddies and have more fun that I thought humanly possible. You two will have a great time.

Welcome to SB and to diving!

Welcome WhyNot,

I'm a NC'er, just relocated to South Florida (yeah, I know, it's a tough life!). Be sure to try out Blue Stone Quarry in Thomasville. It's large, inexpensive, and a great place to bump into other local divers.

Another good operation for that area is Coastal Scuba in North Myrtle Beach. They're a bit cowboyish, but you can get some nice wreck and artificial reef dives within just a few miles of Myrtle Beach for reasonable rates.

Of course, you really need to get down to Florida, either to the Gainesville area to dive the freshwater springs, or to South Florida for reefs and wrecks. If you come this way, be sure to check out the Florida Conch Divers forum - it's a great place to learn about the sport.

Welcome to you and your son, to the board and to the sport.

Yes, we were certified through Rick @ Triad. I agree, he is a great guy. I met him through a mutual friend who has been trying to get me diving for about 4 years. I finally took the plunge and Have been on 13 dives locally at the three quarries of PDRA. Yanceyville has the best vis, of the three. I'm lovin' it. John
