Hi everyone! I want to start by saying thank you for making such a great resource- I referred to SB a lot as I was getting prepared to do my PADI OW course, which I just completed in St John USVI (on my 30th birthday!).

I had only snorkeled before, and did all of my confined/open water dives in St John. The pace of the course was quicker than I would have liked, but I think in some ways that was good for me- I did wind up experiencing panic with mask removal. By the open water dives, I still had a lot of anxiety and could feel the panic creeping up during certain skills, but I could work through it. During the last dives, I finally felt comfy and was enjoying myself! Working through that fear was so empowering, and something I want to keep practicing. I felt it could have been unmanageable for me if I hadn’t had a lot of past experience with meditation & yoga.

I recently moved to Houston and am hoping to meet other divers in the area. I also plan to find a shop here locally to keep logging pool time and get as comfortable as possible before hopefully going on another dive trip soon.

All that to say- hello, and thanks again!!

Hello and congratulations on making it through your OW certification. Glad you were able to enjoy yourself on those last few dives.
