Hi

I hope I'm posting this at the right category

Just got my X-Vision.

Is there any prep on using the new mask prior to diving? (in 3 days time)

Heard things about washing it thoroughly... applying toothpaste etc...

Any comments!?

Thanks in advance

I've given my last two masks a clean with toothpaste (on both sides of the lens). A bit of spit before every dive and they don't mist up. Seems to work but then so might doing nothing:).

Toothpaste cleaning is recommended, I like to do it twice. I use 500PSI antifog (blue goo kinda stuff) and it works great for me. Good mask, BTW.

Everbody's already send you in the right direction, now here is why:

Masks are usually shipped with some kind of coating on the glass so they look pretty sitting on a shelf. Basicly the abrasives in the toothpaste will remove the coating without harming the glass.

You want to do this because the coating will allow condesation to stick to it and thus fogging the mask.

Just be sure to rince it real well, toothpaste fumes can irritate your eyes.

As far as defoggers, my personal experience is that soap based defoggers work really well as does spit. All others are just a waste of money.
