Hi all,

I am not new in diving, but in U/W photography I am a complete novice.

I just bought a Ikelite Case with strobe DS-50 and EV controller. I am using a Canon A620 Camera. (do i need a diffuser with such configuration?)

I would like to know what are the best parameters to set up my cam in order to get good pictures.

Or is it enough to shoot on P program and let the camera to do the work automatically.

Welcome to the addiction!!

I usually have a diffuser on my strobes, but have taken them off and have shot without them, too. Try it with first and then experiment as time goes on.

Manual mode is your friend as you get to control things, not the camera. The auto and P modes will work fine in some instances and not so fine in others. Again, take some time and experiment when you have a cooperative subject so you can get a feel for the differences in that particular scenario. Cameras are pretty easy to trick underwater and sometimes the Auto modes get a bit funky ;)

Check out the Sticky at the top of the forum - you can follow the Pink Link in my signature - as we've compiled a whole host of information, including some specific settings, to help you get started.

Shoot lots of photos, ask lots of questions and make sure to post your shots :) Have fun!
