Good Morning ScubaBoard -

I will be starting my open water certification with SSI on Monday. I'm super stoked and can't wait to hit the water. I have always been amazed with the underwater world; I have snorkled and free dived several beautiful sites and finally tried snuba last year and made the decision it was time to take the plunge.

I have purchased my starter equipment as follows:
Mask: Scubapro CrystalVue
Fins: Scubapro Twin Jet Max
Snorkel: Scubapro Phoenix Dry Snorkel
Gloves and Boots: Scubapro
Weight belt and 10lbs of weights
Defog and a Mouthpiece kit w/straps.

Fortunately I purchased this through our LDS and can exchange any of it during my certification if it does not work out. I am open to any comments or suggestions about this equipment.

Now, the million dollar question...I intend to purchase the remainder of my equipment as I go. My thoughts are that I can try different rental BC's and Regs as I dive. In addition, I know there are many internet sites such as Liesure Pro, Scuba Toys and Divers Supply that offer the same gear at discounted prices. Are these viable resources? What gear recommendations do you have if I am looking to purchase gear that will last me through the ages...I'm not looking for beginner gear just to try it out, I am looking for something I can log some dives with for many years to come.

I am looking forward to hearing your responses and keeping up with your threads as well. I can't wait to start this new adventure.

Thank you in advance for your comments!

Make it a great day and Happy Diving!
