Indefinitely? Uhhh... no. And I said, "or 300 dives. That's a lot of wear and tear, especially in saltwater.
I don't know what you do to your gear, but mine lasts a lot longer than 300 dives, and I'm not babying it at all. Just normal quick 15 minutes post dive rinse and store, and maybe rinse out the BCD bladder every couple of weeks. All ocean dives. About 1/2 boat, 1/2 shore. SeaQuest ProQD. Nice and rugged. So far the only failure has been a pull dump cord that was a combination of corrosion and abuse on a boat. I replaced it with some 2mm cord and went on with life.

What pieces of junk have you had that had to be discarded after 300 dives?

He is hangin in in Fallujah for two more months. Thanks for asking...they just got some M-RAP Cougars so that makes my day a little brighter.

So....how old is your BC? Do you have the part plastic inflator? ...like my new one in the picture?

I hear our boys have done some good work in Fallujah. Pass on my thanks and support. Tell him to keep his head down!

I have the stainless (alleged) steel one. IMO this should not be an issue with Halcyons. Eveything else is quality. Its like having a Lexus with a water pump that keeps going out...Jeez! Only this can kill you I suppose. I would appreciate some feedback on the plastic one once you test drive it a bit.

sure...I am expecting smooth sailing. the thing looks like BMW part, it is quite a piece of art and very solid feeling, I think they knocked themselves out.
Just e-mail Ken, he will send you one, I bet. then you'll have a back-up. In the meantime, you can scree your hex SS button off and rinse and lubricate.--I think you are supposed to use a non-petro based lubricant...but of course I graduated to the toilet bowl cleaner. (something rusts inside and it totally removes the corrosion)

yea, I have forgiven Halcyon this one mistake.

Time to retire all but the backplate, seriously. I would never use a rig for longer than three years or 300 dives, no matter the brand.
Dan, You aren't having cocktails are you?
My Eclipse is like new, otherwise. Besides, don't you have a can of fix a flat in that "save a dive kit?"
besides, I have my trusty Halcyon SMB for back up float.

Back to OP...
"I just replaced the clamp with 2 zip ties. Work great, no issues."
I did this as well and change them often...never any problems...
I check the zip ties, the bolt snaps and attachements before every dive and after.
