Hello Scubaboard. I'm a brand new diver, all shiny and and green! But I'm absolutely adoring it, so far, and I'm looking forward to learning more.

BTW, I don't normally carry a sea cucumber around with me on my dives, but on dive 7, that was the unintentional "practical joke" pulled on me by my former instructor. He was showing it to me, and then didn't know why I was carrying it around. I didn't know why he handed it to me, but hell - he was my instructor! Thou Shalt Do What Thy Instructor Says! After about 10 minutes, time enough for a photo op, he finally took pity on me and told me to put it down.

Simply put, the picture is a good representation of my personality ... sadly enough.

Welcome to SB, Jen. Nice anecdote. I love the diving up your way, especially Hood Canal.

See ya around the board,
Bryan

You should see the ones down here... you'll need two hands!! hehe

Have fun... you can probably do a "SEARCH" for friends with similar interests.. such as cucumbers.. 8^)

Or perhaps they'd carry ME instead?

I just looked up what preys on sea cucumbers, just to see what down in your area might eat me if I was holding a sea cucumber and I found this:

"Enemies: Sea turtles, crustaceans, many fish, and people eat sea cucumbers. Sea cucumbers can expel most of their internal organs to confuse predators - they later regrows the organs."

I'm less worried about the predators than the bad English.
