Okay, would post this in the equip section but I need new fins for tech...

So far I'm looking at the OMS Slips, SP Jets, and the Mares Avanti Quattros but I'm open to other suggestions.

I for the best multi functional fin since I'm constantly traveling (weight is already an issue), and I teach...

As you probably are well aware...this is one of those personal preference items...we all have our favorites.

I use and have had good results with both Mares Quattros and OMS Slipstreams....each has a different feel and style of diving mobility.

Several other good fins on the market also from talking with other divers and reviewing write ups. I keep to the basics, and they have to be 'black'. :)

Good luck in your search.

Any chance you could give a brief comparison of the Quattros/Slipstreams? Adv/Dis?

Quattros have a longer, more flexible blade so you are going to get a better flutter kick out of them. You can also do a better dolphin kick and a little smoother full leg frog. On the flip side, you don't get as much snap, and they aren't as manueverable as paddles.

Slipstreams have tons of pop and are better for helicopter and back kicks. They aren't great for flutter kicking. I would recommend the slips for technical diving. Much better more manueverable in tight spaces and are better at pushing a lot of gear through the water.

I started out with Scubapro Jet fins XL, when I switched over to drysuit diving my boots were too big for the XL's so I bought XXL's. Unfortunately they were too big and my foot slipped around a lot, so I switched over to the OMS's (size XL). They fit extremely well and work well for me- similar to the Jets. So bottom line, you may be influenced by the fit as to which brand will work.

Do you use your OMS XLs for both wet and dry? I had some SP Twinjet (S**Tfins), in XL (I have a size 11 foot), and they were perfect for me wet but a little tight dry....lol...no innuendo.

Either way I'm planning to use spring straps.

I use XL slipstreams wet and XXL slipstreams dry. I have size 12 feet. With the drysuit I have XXL turbosoles w/ thick booties and it is a perfect fit. The XXL slips are right in between the SP XL and XXL.

I haven't tried the OMS's wet, I still have and use the XL Jets. Since the Jets fit wet I imagine the OMS's would be a little loose.

Hello Everybody
By now i am using Aqualung Rockets II for Dry, and Quattros for wet
i am very satisfied with the rockets for using with doubles, dry suits, and all that tech stuff...They can make lots of impulse, although they are leg brakers when trying to do a flutter...but when in frog, hellicopter, reverse kicks they are at least as good as the quattros.
The quattros are more flexible, and, to me, they see to work better with lighter equipment.
I´ve tryed SP Jets too, and they also do well the job.
So, as spoke before, it´s all a matter of personal preference, and is worth to say that every fin have a learning curve, so, maybe it´s not possible to make a definitive impression with a single use.
Hope have been usefull
