Lake Mead Tony:
Sorry, not next weekend, weekend after next.
Yup , but ganna get some time in this weekend too , still trying to master the drysuit.

hmm, diving or caving... i think diving :D im still waiting on my replacement cert card to come in so i'll have to run out to sport chalet summerlin to grab my tanks the day before. Depending on whether he can go or not I think i'll prob get two days of diving as paintsnow is also looking for a partner granted were both already vets of the scuba park :rofl3: , only thing i havent found is the sailboat which isnt "from the descriptions" isnt even in scuba park but is instead off the southeast tip of saddle island which looking at my topos would put me right in the boatlane out of the marina and even I wouldnt risk that surface swim. but yeah If you know any good shore inserts with a good depth/ topography profile definately share, I hate blowing half my bubbles just to get a good amount of water over my head.:crafty:

Hello all -

I'll be in Vegas the day after tomorrow (sunday 12/10) through weds, and I'd love to be able to dive Mead on monday or tuesday, if anyone's up for it...?
I contacted Lake Mead Charters in Henderson to see if they have a spot on their boat, but haven't heard back yet (it's only been a day...).

Never dived a lake before, and I know all about bad vis (I feel so blessed when I get 15'...), so I don't need the most mind-blowing adventure - just a good dive.

Thanx, cheers

Hey, I'm pretty busy these days until after CES but let me know when you are going out if you wouldn't mind me tagging along. I haven't been out since August and I would love to get some dives in. Plus I haven't put on my drysuit since I left Seattle, so that's sure to be a bit of enertainment.

pterantula/dr shappero, I'm going to scuba park here in a few hours though im always willing to dive, granted I'm not working and I have the ten dollars to rent a tank...which is the real limiting factor, but yeah please msg me with any ?'s you might have, i've only dived from the shore and no i dont have access to a boat :) cheers

Hello All,

I am a beginning diver living in Ft. Mohave AZ. I received my Open Water cert in May
at Playa del Carmen. After diving Riviera Maya I had no desire to dive Lake Mohave or Lake Mead. However the itch to dive is getting so bad I am having a change of heart.

Are there any instructors around that frequent Lake Mohave? I would like a refresher course.

Also, I will be taking a vacation early next year and would like some advice on destinations. My initial list is: Belize, Maui, Kona or Islamaroda.

I have snorkled extensively on Maui and took my first intro dive there. Should I go back or try something new. Love the idea of Belize but it is the more expensive destination.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve, Lake Mohave isn't a bad lake to dive. The visibility is usually around 20-30' depending on time of year. Water temp right now is about 56 degrees, though. Not too bad in a 7mm. I was just there last Sunday. Right now it's really windy through the canyon and makes it a little less than desirable when you get our.

Lake Mead usually has about 5' of visibility from shore and is a little warmer (maybe 2-4 degrees) and not much to see. Take a look at my website for more information and photos at both locations.

As for vacation destinations, I liked Belize. I haven't been to Maui, but I've heard it doesn't compare to Belize. You can get some decent deals if you look.

I just did 10 dives in Maui this past June; I have some pics up at Flickr from that (still learning good color-correction techniques, please bear with me; didn't shoot the night dive at all though...).

Anyway, back to the topic at hand... still hoping to dive Mead next week (don't think I'll have the time to go anywhere else...).

Hey all!

I'll be moving back to Henderson in late January. Currently I'm out in San Diego.

If you're interested in a dive buddy who's pretty much willing to dive everyday, drop me a PM!
