new diver, suggestions?

hey everybody! new to diving. i was certified as an advanced open water diver through the air force. so i have about 35 dives but none logged.

stationed here in albuquerque but plan on diving near the orlando and key west areas.

don't own any of my own gear. so any suggestions about bc's and what not will be greatly appreciated.
