Hello Scuba board!, I took my first open water Dive today, and the reading i did before hand on this site was quite valuable. Got 50 minutes bottom time at 30 feet, saw a mated pair of saddle back butterfly fish, and a 4-5 foot white tip for about 12 feet away.
100 ft visibility, GREAT first dive, terrific instructor. Cant wait for my next dive!

Congratulations on your first dive. Where did you dive on Maui. I get there every year and love the diving. I am in the middle of my rescue class, so I spent the day in 65 degree water in a dry suit playing in 14 ffw.

I look forward to being back on Maui next February. Who are you diving with and where did you dive? I hope you can get out to Molokini. Love the garden eels inside the crater area and especially the large yellow margin towards reef's end size. He was somewhere around 5' in length.

I wish you the best in having a great time in paradise. So many great places to dive and not enough money and time to dive them all.

As I always tease Brad from B&B, a dry suit is not something you have until you jump into the water, those are called swim trunks.

Congratulations on your certification! There aren't too many places more welcoming of a new diver than Maui. And the opportunities for shore diving and using your new cert are many!

Aloha from a married pair of certified divers living in Kihei. If you ever need a dive buddy, My wife and/or I would be happy to go. Lobster season is fast approaching and we don't want to be out of shape in the wee hours of September 1st when we bag our first bugs (fingers crossed). I have gotten the best service from a GREAT dive shop in Kihei called MDDC. Hope you have many great dives on the island. We have all our own gear and one of us are available every weekend. Love to night dive and highly recommend navigation. Whenever you're ready, lets blow some bubbles. Much Aloha, Malu spots.
