Just returned to the Pacific Northwest after a brief (year-long) hiatus back East. About to complete my open water cert, nitrox, drysuit, etc. My fiance will be joining me in this adventure. Honeymoon in Honduras region. Probably getting our gear at Underwater Sports in Bellevue. Comparing drysuits for Northwest diving: Bare vs. USIA, compressed neoprene vs trilam. Who knew there were so many choices?

Welcome Home Dive safe and eazy would like to know what dry-suit you are going to get? It gets a mite cool around here and then winter drop write in, Have fun.-----Sealman

Welcome, Scomato! Have you signed up for your classes yet?

I'd recommend holding off on buying gear, if you are going to buy locally, until you have a chance to look around and see what folks here are diving. It may not be what the shop is selling . . . a lot of us bought initially, and then replaced our gear when we figured out what works best in our cold water.

If you want recommendations on instructors, give me a PM. Or, if you are already signed up, feel free to write when you've finished your class, if you want a dive buddy. I particularly enjoy taking new divers out to see the great stuff we have in the Sound.
