evangunst:
Hi there. I'm new to the board and have just begun taking a course to get my open water certification. I got my feet wet by doing a discover scuba dive in Barbados, and I can't wait to learn more and finish the course. I'm from NJ, so I may consider planning to dive in the local area - wreck dives and stuff. My instructor does this and he says it's cool. Any other people out there in a similar situation -- taking the course for the first time and want to eventually dive in this area?

Ed

Hi Ed,

Well, I'm in the same boat as far as taking my OW Cert. I will complete my OW Cert. in mid-September. However, I live in Minnesota. I do plan to dive locally and in warmer climates every chance I can get.

Lots of great info. to be found at SB. Exploring SB is a great way to learn.

Pam

Hi Ed,

You'll find lots of good information in the New2Scuba and Basic Scuba Discussion forums.

Good luck with your course and welcome to the board,
Grier

When I did my dive in Barbados, I did it with a company called "West Side Scuba Centre". They seemed pretty good, although I didn't have much to compare to, this being my 1st dive and all. visit their web site at westsidescuba.com. Thanks for responding - I just got OW certified and did my 1st real ocean dive off of NC.
