I was certified yesterday and planning a trip to Cozumel in June sometime. Trying to decide on whether to get a 3mm shorty or full suit. I am 34 yrs old and work out regularly. I've heard the many benefits of both options. Any suggestions?

Darth... I am going to tell you up front; I hate you!!! I lived in Stateline (top of Kingsbury Grade) and have never regretted anything more than the day we moved away!!! Do I ever miss it... not the tourist but the Nevada lifts 1 mile from the front door, beautiful lake, and a year long blast to do what ever you wanted to do...!!!

Welcome and for Coz in June... I am going with a 3/2 shorty and will peel it off to trunks and shirt if need be... With the 3/2 shorty, you can always stack it on a 3mm or 5mm to stay a little warmer in the lake... That water is cold away from the shore and I wish I could say I dove the lake but was not diving back then...

New, get alot of dives in and work on your buoyancy... Coz, to me was a good time running with the current but its not everyone cup of tea! I like mine unsweetened with lemon!!! ;)

Best to you, lee

3mm shorty should be enough.

are you doing some extra dives before you go?

drift diving a wall from a boat with new kit on dive 5 might not be eveyones cup of tea.

have fun.

It is easy enough to let water into a suit to cool down, but very hard to warm back up once cold. Plus some exposure protection against jellyfish stings might be a good thing. So if you can't tell, I am a full suit user.

Although many folks like their shorties, and I do own one for surface water sports.

Lee,
Yeah Tahoe is world class. Summer and winter heaven.. yeah I was leaning towards a 3mm shorty. What exactly is the difference between that and a 3/2?
