hi,all moving to jacksonville,nc the weekend before memorial weekend and doing my cert. dives the weekend before that.Just wanted to say HI.

Hey swamp,
You are gonna love the diving off the coast of NC. We have some great wrecks to see. Everything from cargo ships to German U boats.

If you are free....on Sunday the 30th of this month (Memorial day weekend)
a bunch of us are going to Rawlings Lake VA and doing a dive get together. It
would be about a 3 1/2 hour or so drive for you. We all plan on getting there around
9 am and diving all day...eating....and basically enjoying the sun. You are most welcome to join us.

If you think you can go, shoot me a pm and I will describe our cars and us so you can pick us out. I will be off pc for about 4 days....got to go to a wedding!! Later

Thanks for the invite RICHinNC i'll talk it over with the wife and get back to ya. In my eyes i'd love to(but have to talk to her).If i can go(if i'm up to it after riding 20hrs down there and unloading) can i ride along with someone? Tony

Welcome to the south Swamp. Like Rich was saying, some fantastic wrecks off the coast and some great swamp diving down in South Carolina. contrags on getting certified also.

welcome to NC and scuba board , as others stated you will love the summer diving , well winter can be hazardous at time lol.but as others stated there are few of us trying to get together end of may , myself still waiting word from boss to get off . i was suppose to dive the Saturday before but don't look like i will make that one go figure.
anyway look around ask lots of questions lots of dive operators and most are pretty good and reliable , mother nature with weather is your worst culprit in NC.

I moved to the Swansboro area last October and have been looking for decent shore dive sites with very little luck.

A shop in Beaufort said the best shore dive is probably the jetty on Radio Island at slack high tide. I haven't tried it yet but would like to give it a go if anyone is interested.

I got my OW Cert last May in Massachusetts before moving here and have only dived a half dozen times, none deep, and no wrecks. I don't know if I'm ready for wrecks yet unless they are shallow. (looking into my AOW locally this summer)

Feel free to drop me a line if you want to dive something local.

Discovery Diving in Beaufort is doing a night dive at Radio Island on Friday. I think it's free, aside from any rental gear or tanks that you need. I can't make it to this one, but it would be a good chance to learn the site.
