Hi welcome to the board. There are a lot of divers here in Chicago. Haigh Quarry down in Kankakee is a great place to train, practice, brush up on skills or just to go and submerge. The wrecks in Lake Michigan are great.

Nothing wrong with when you started diving that's when I started. I have 2 sons they both dive as well. If you can do it it's a great family activity. Hope to see you around sometime.

Welcome KCape, glad to have another diver in the area. I started diving at 36 and only regret that I did not start sooner. Like Duane said, keep an eye out for the Great Lakes Wrecking Crew - ScubaBoard section of SB and you should have no problems finding people to dive with throughout the summer. I usually will post if I am coming to Haigh to see who may want to join me for a dive or two. Also the Our World Underwater Show is in Feb if you are looking to talk diving before we can get in the water.
