Hello all, I am a new diver, just got my OW cert and continuing on to my AOW. Just bought some gear, and I was wondering what ya'll think of the set up I got, if it is allright, and what you might pay for it.

First I got an Oceanic Omega 2/CDX5 regulator
Oceanic Veo 250 Swivel Combo SPG
A dual Octo (can't remember what brand, starts with an S though)
And a 3mm shorty Akona wetsuit

Tell me what you all think of this and what you guys would pay for it.
Thanks

I like the Oceanic regs and the CDX5 is a good first stage. I don't know much about the Omega2, but the Delta3 and Delta4 are great regs.

Veo250 is nice, but like I preach, all new divers want console computers, but you'll likely soon realize that a wrist computer is the way to go. I really wanted a console computer at first but due to a good deal got the watch and am SO happy. Every experienced diver I know has watches and a handful of them bought consoles first. You may like the console though so don't sweat it.

First things first WELCOME to SCUBABOARD !!!!!!!
Rent as many different types/styles of gear to see what works best for you.
This will be particularly important for you BCD decision.
Don't just buy what some guy in a dive shop thinks is or looks cool, get gear that works for you.
I'm not real familiar with oceanic regs, but if you like it and it breathes easily at depth,
then it should work out for you.
Also note that typically dive shops generally put the cheapest octo reg,you might consider an upgrade in the future. Identicle to your primary or possible upgrade if you find a different reg you like better.
I breathe my octo throughout my dives and keep my primary as a back-up(on a necklace)therfore both of my regs are pretty decent.
Dive Safe/Dive Often
Translation=Learn from yours and other near misses/Never ever let your gear dry(Keep it wet ;) )

I will say Oceanic Omega 2/CDX5 regulator consider one of the best reg ya...

The Oceanic 1st stage is great and will last you a long time and deliver all the air you'll ever need. The omega 2nd can breathe a little wet and can be a little tricky to adjust, but will give you more than enough air. I agree with the earlier post about consoles, don't see any use for them. This set up will work very well for you for quite some time and when and if you decide to make some changes you'll have a great set of spare gear.-M

You like your gear when underwater? It gives you air, keeps you warm, and gives you reliable info? You could afford to pay for it? It looks nice and fancy to you? Then it is the perfect set for you, especially if you have few dives. Use it 50 times, and then try another one. You will prefer yours...or change and have spare equipment, which is good as well.
You would not ask how much to pay for a new friend, would you?
Wish you happy dives.eyebrow

That sounds like great gear to me. I agree with BrianV, get a computer, they make diving so much more relaxed and enjoyable. Remeber all the stuff you did with the dive tables? Forget it..... get a nice computer and you're set.

The dual octo is made by Sherwood.

Check out our site to compare prices. and if you want a great computer that won't break your wallet check out our specials page.

All in all, sounds like you made some good purchases.... enjoy! :)
