BC Old Ferry Sinks
AINSWORTH -- A decommissioned vehicle ferry has plunged to the bottom of Kootenay Lake. The M-V Anscomb, which plied the lake's waters for 53-years, sank suddenly on Sunday. The 25-vehicle ferry had been moored for renovations at Woodbury marina at Ainsworth. There were no reports of explosions of fire. Kaslo R-C-M-P are investigating the sinking. The boat's owner was reportedly on the 60-metre vessel when it mysteriously began to take on water. The Anscomb was sold by the Ministry of Transportation to Clayton Jones last year. He planned to renovate the vessel into a floating restaurant or casino.
