OK,, now I have to ask. What is all the hullabaloo about Vista?

It's just very problematic. Lots of glitches and hang-ups, plus many of the new features such as wireless network detection are extremely annoying.

One good indication of which PCs are reliable and which aren't is by going into a local PC store (not best buy or frys) and checking out which ones are on the repair bench. At my local store I see more Dell's than anything else, there could also just be more Dells out there but I doubt it.

Not a photog but a computer geek...Vista is Microsoft's biggest mistake ever in that it requires super hardware to run, has a lot of hardware driver issues, and basically it's UI and User Access Controls are a PITA.

I do have to disagree about the Dells...I've been using them on my work network for over 10 years and yes there are one or two issues but usually the system is under warranty. Don't know about those Dells you see at your local store (out of warranty I guess) and it's also a sign of Dell's market share.

I personally will run XP Pro or OSX until I see Windows 7 (the next release to replace Vista).

Cheers.

ME is MSFT's biggest mistake. Win 7 is 100x's better than Vista at this point in its development that Vista was. I am running it and it's much more solid as a Beta product than Vista is as RTM.

I use a Dell Precision M4400 and an Inspiron e1505. I had both built online at Dell to what I wanted and am very pleased with both. I edit with Avid Liquid 7 for HD and both laptops perform great. I've been thinking of changing to a Mac Powerbook, but I really like Liquid and have used it since v5.0 and not sure if I'd like FinalCut or have time to relearn a new NLE
