I am new to a Hollis SS BP/W, with a solo harness. I am in the process of stringing it. The directions say to put a keeper on the back side of the lower slots, this keeps the shoulder straps in position. I was thinking if I left the keeper off then I could push out on the shoulder straps to loosen and make it easy on and off.
Is there any reason why I shouldnt do this? Keith

Unless you have some sort of mobility restriction, it's not necessary - you can 'chicken wing' out of a properly-adjusted harness quite easily

As far as reasons not to do it, with no keeper, the right side could pull right out of the backplate, if you're using a DIR-style 5 d-ring setup, since there's nothing on that side of the waist harness

I don't use keepers there. I have a right hip D ring for spools or reels. On the other hand, I do have very stiff webbing which tends to prevent any slippage. Another option if you want to adjust would be to use a plastic weight belt buckle on the left part of the waist strap to keep it from sliding too much.

On the waist band there are D rings with keepers on both sides. You would only be able to slide your shoulder straps out until the D rings hit. Keith
