Hi everyone. Thanks for the helpful insight here. I've been lurking on this thread for months and the new Bare suit inspired me to take a drysuit class and do some shopping. I've been diving monterey for years in a 7mm wetsuit. Ready to warm up. The class went great and I really enjoyed the comfort of the rental suit vs. a wetsuit. Ready to purchase a drysuit for myself and the Bare SB looks like a winner.
Questions around sizing and options for those who've used the SB suit.
They didn't have the SB system at my LDS, but we tried on on one of the other BARE models - I think it was the trilam in a size L. And I wore a fleece onesy underneath.
I am 6', 178 or so. Size 10 feet. Fairly fit. On the BARE size chart, it says I should go with an ML. We tried on an L in the different model (but also from BARE) and it fit great. They didn't have an ML.
Questions -
Go with the L?
Go with L undergarments as well?
We tried on XL vulcanized boots with a thinsulate liner (and socks) and the fit was good. On a dive retail website, I posted a question and a rep from the store said I wouldn't need a liner for the built-in vulcanized boots as the boots are 6mm neoprene already. I am skeptical. That true? If so, I could likely go to an L sized boot. My tentative plan is to go with XL boots and get a CT200 or other thinsulate liner.
My wetsuit gloves just tore. Recommendations to pair for the seals on this suit? Pinnacle Merino (discontinued I think)? Henderson? BARE? Something else? I am going to get cuff rings installed for the option of switching later to drysuit gloves.
Thanks! Appreciate all of the great posts I've watched roll in over the past few months.
