I am a die hard Zeagle and Apeks fan, I currently dive with a new Zeagle Flathead VI, but I always like to try new regs when I get a chance just to give other manufactures a fair evaluation and actually get some real world knowledge on how other regs perform and I try and keep an open mind. I started off my diving career with a US divers Micra adjustable which I really liked even though it was a free-flow machine just like my dive buddies ScubaPros are, and then one day the DM at my local dive shop oaned me his Apeks TX50 to use while my Micra was in the shop and I bought a new Apeks reg the vey next day when I go back from my dive. Anyway back to the subject of test diving the new Leged, I was actually pleasently surprised at how well it performed, ad the dive was in water 49-68 degrees. While my Flathead VI is definitely a better breather, the Legend did perform very well and if someone is wanting to buy a US Divers Aqualung reg, I would suggest that they give the Legend a try. One thing that I did not really like about it was that it seemed to really be affected by my position in the water, and I never noticed that with my old Micra reg. I would still recommend Apeks and Zeagle to anyone who asks, but I did want to let some of you folks out there know that us Zeagle/Apeks users are not just closed minded, but we also try other regs, and the outcome is usually the same...some of the others are good performers, but just not quite the total package that the Apeks and Zeagle regs are in my opinion, not yet anyway.

Hi there TRUETEXAN and/or anyone answering this post!

I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.
I bought my Zeagle (Apeks) flathead6/TX100 reg back in the Spring of '99. It has been a great reg. (apart from a little wet breathing if I do barrel rolls or other non-ordinary maneuvers).

Have you used this type of reg. along with the newer Apeks TX100 and new Zeagle fh6 to be able to compare their performance?

I need to get a second reg. very soon (2nd primary) and so I would be particularly appreciative of your help and insight.

Thanks very much!

Cheers,
Jon

I am extremely happy with my Aqualung Legend LX Supreme... It breathes well and I have had no problems with it. It is a regulator that I would highly recommend

I have a number of Apeks that I got when Zeagle had them. I agree they can breath wet. I also have a bunch of the new Zeagle regs and I prefer them hands down. Maybe it wouldn't be true for all of them but I have never had even a drop of water get through. Also, I believe they breath better and the adjustment knob works much smoother. As for Aqualung, I have no use for the company or any of their products.

Any particular reason for disliking AquaLung?

Well since Aqualung and Apeks are the same now you gonna quit using Apeks?

I have the new Zeagle Flathead (a Zeagle-Zeagle) and it' great. Very dry. I have over a dozen other regs and this one is the most comfortable reg I have ever used. (It beats the USN requirements for 198' at over 300'! Check out their website)
