Just spent about 2 hours reading posts. A LOT of good information. I did a discovery/play session in the pool last month. I always wanted to try it and being able to inhale underwater (and not choke) was absolutely exhilarating!!! The folks at the shop in my area seemed real knowledgeable (the search and rescue guys told a few too many stories about body recovery -- but assured me they were drunk fisherman and not divers) and the folks pretty nice and revelled me with tales of fishing from an underwater position. I'll let you know when I certify later this winter. I'm even wearing my mask as I write this!!!!!

Hi attila and welcome to Scubaboard! It's easy to spend way too much time here, or is that possible? Anyway, welcome and enjoy!

WELCOME to ScubaBoard!!!
Looks like you've caught the bug.
Is diving a disease or an addiction? Oh! no problem, addictions are diseases, so there's my answer, it may be either or both!
Check out the "Pacific Northwest Orca Bait" forum for the addicts in your area, you'll get great information from them and you may find too many dive buddies.
Can you have too many dive buddies? Do I ask too many questions?
Anyway enjoy yourself, learn lots here, and join in our conversations.

Tom

Wearing his mask as he posts. My kind of nut!

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!
If you'll click ScubaBoard.com above, you'll be taken to our long list of forums, a wealth of information and resources. At the bottom, be sure to notice the Local & Singles Dive Club forums.

Scuba certainly has risks, as does any real sport - unlike hobbies like golf & bowling, but we try to manage it safely. We have a better recond overall than many others.

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message." :thumb:

Glad to see your enthusiasm for getting started! Enjoy your class!

Dive safe!

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or respond to in this forum.
