Hi Guys,
I have mainly dived in NZ with a couple of dives up in Cains Australia. Over the last ten years or so i have developed an allergy what i can only assume is to neoprene.
The reason why i say it is neoprene, is that i had a thigh pad on from a rugby injury which is made out of neoprene and i broke out with a rash that within a short few hours , covered me from head to foot.
This was very irritating and unbareable. The very next time i put my wet suit on, it happened again . I have read a couple of articles on the net about alleries to neoprene and am investigating getting a lycra body suit as i am thinking that if i was to separate my skin from the neoprene then i can continue diving.
I also spoke to a dive suit shop in Christchurch, who said that the few cases he had dealt with was due to the glue that was used to attach neoprene to its backing. This i found very interesting .
Does anyone out there have any suggestions or advice that may aid in my quest.
Cheers
Andre
