I'm a Fish!
I'm in the market for a backup computer, most preferably a bottom timer. Looking at the available options (Hollis DG01, Uwatec Digital), it seems like it'd be cheaper to just buy a computer with a gauge mode (at the loss of a stopwatch, or seconds display).

Looks like the cheapest one I can find is the Mares Nemo Sport, for 199 from leisurepro. Close seconds would be the Tusa IQ700 or Nitek Duo (which I am familiar with, as I have the Cressi Archimede 2...)

What are people's thoughts on this? Will I regret not spending the extra 100+ to get a proper bottom timer?

Thanks!

I think you might have answered your own question. Go with a computer that allows a function of a gauge mode.....if you need a back up COMPUTER in a pinch now you have one on a trip. I use a Dive Rite Duo and use it in gauge mode for technical gas diving.
