Has anyone had any experience with the Nekton in November or December? I am trying to plan a liveaboard trip for late in the year and I was wondering what the dive conditions were like in Belize at this time of the year. Thanks!

Did the Belize trip first week in November. Rain, rain, rain, maybe 1 hour of sun all week. No one cared - diving was so great. Then again who knows this year it could be sunny, in fact may book the same week this year!!!

We were on the Pilot in Belize in Dec. 2005 and the weather was gorgeous except for 1 day when a storm blew through. That was the only rain we saw in the 11 days we were in Belize.

Have done 5 Nekton trips now ...all in the Bahamas and Belize. Most recent trips were in March 2005 and 2006 (Belize). Nothing but good stuff.

Next trip is Nekton in the Caymans this coming May. Wish it was tomorrow.

We were on the Nekton recently for the Southern Belize itinerary. Pretty well knew what to expect from reading all the terrific reports/info here on SB.

The critters were thick, lots of big fish..........saw nursesharks, morays, turtles, huge groupers, cuda etc plus tons of tropicals. No problem diving air 3-5 dives per day.

Food was filling, staff was very attentive and helpful and the cabins were good sized....appreciated all the windows and the private bath.

Only negative: The Princess Hotel where we waited for our evening pickup for the boat smelled really bad and there was no hot water....not very neat, we were glad we spent the previous night somewhere else. Also Belize City is not a good place to visit, walked a good chunk of it and it was pretty grungy and dismal....great place to catch a liveaboard out of tho!

We enjoyed our time on the Pilot and consider it a good value for Caribbean diving.

Take a look at the trip report (Nekton Belize) that I posted and all of the comments and recommendations that accompany it:

What are the different general dive areas between Belize Central and Belize Southern? I suppose that central includes Turneffe, Haye Moon Caye, Blue Hole, etc. while southern is Glovers Reef plus something else, but I cannot find the specifics on the nekton website.

Thanks for the help.

Bill
