I will be taking a trip to the Caribbean in June with my son. I am looking for a place that has good shore diving as well as boat diving. I have been to a few places via a cruise. I like Curacao the best. Do you think that is my best choice? Where have you been that has great shore diving? An all inclusive trip would be nice.

Anyone been to West Diving in Curacao?

If you want 24/7 shore diving, the best place by far is Bonaire. You can do boat diving but we see no reason to and much perfer not to have to deal with schedules and crowded boats.
I would suggest that you NOT do an all inclusive on Bonaire...if by AI you mean all food included. Not that the resort restaurants are bad but, there are way too many good places to eat on Bonaire to be stuck with the food at any resort. We have found the "Drive and Dive" plan at Buddy Dive to be about as good as it gets all considered. It includes everything you need except lunch and dinner. www.buddydive.com

My favorite shore diving is CoCo View Resort in Roatan. You get 4 boat dives a day if you wish but we skip them and do shore dives over half the time, depending on the sites the boat is going to. Shore diving 24/7 just yards from your room is great and is a photographers dream.

Dee... i know everyone is different and do different things but could you tell me about how much a trip like this cost for 2 people from the time you leave home till you get back, including airfare? LOL, we are poor folks but that looks like a very nice place to save some money up and go to.

thanks,
steve

I concur with the Bonaire suggestion, if you read reviews then Bonaire wins. I would say in my experience Bonaire is best easiest, beats Curacao. I haven't been to Coco view.
Other inclusive type might be Cayman Brac, the Brac Reef or the Divi sometimes have specials. The two Sister Islands aren't super condusive to shore diving unless you know where to go and how to get there. I took my son to the Brac a couple of years ago, we did three dives a day. We enjoyed it immensely. On one night dive, we saw a school of squid, three octopus, two sleeping turtles, several nurse sharks, lobster, shrimp, eel, scorpion fish, peacock flounder, barracuda and plenty of the night time species of fish as well as some of our jellie friends. And of course plenty of the pesky reef worms.
On Bonaire you might enjoy feeding the Tarpon on a night dive while shore diving (it depends where you stay).

Diving is fun,
