Need to VIP and HYDRO 2 AL80's in Tampa Bay area

I need to VIP and Hydro 2 AL80's in the Tampa Bay area. Any recommendations of where to go?

Calypso Divers wanted $39 for each tank, which is way too much for me.

When I was in Rochester, NY during college - I had my tank hydro'd at an extinguisher shop for $10/tank, but I'm not sure if that's recommended here.

I'm in the Brandon area - and I work 5 mins from the Tampa airport... so anywhere in the tampa bay area's good for me.

Macs is in Clearwater just over the causeway a bit.

There is Scuba Quest on Brandon Blvd and Dale Mabry up in Carrollwood, Divers Supply on Gunn Hwy.

Take your pick, I don't really know the prices for a hydro at any of the shops, but i'm sure if you call them they will tell you.

i go to tampa adventure sports, and recommend bert wilcher. It's a great shop with a great crew, very serviceable and good pricing

A while back someone posted a link to local hydro facilities but I can't seem to find it. Some do HP, some LP, some both and some didn't do scuba tanks at all.

Grab the phone book and start looking for compressed gas and fire extiguisher companies and ask them. Then call dive shops and get the price for hydro/vip/fill and just a vip/fill. Figure out if it would be cheaper to go between two places to save a couple of bucks or just have it done by the dive shop.

FWIW $39 sounds high for just a hydro.

Call around. I do my own vips, and have found hydros for bulk lots as low as $7.00/ tank. Granted this was for over 80 tanks, with pickup and delivery. Smaller lots will generally cost more.

For $35 there should be a valve rebuld and internal cleaning involved.

I forgot to add that Bill Jackson's in Pinellas Park does a hydro, VIP+ and air fil for $40.
