Hey all,
I haven been around these forums for a while and got certified a few years back and I did a couple simple quarry dives, but the class I took was through my university and only included everything right up to the final open water cert dives and I was the only one of my firends who actually took the class to completion. Lacking any immediate friends who dive, I wondered if anyone could give me some tips on meeting up with other new divers for simple quarry/ no deco stuff. I will only be in the Chicago area for the next month, but I return in december for a whole year. Any help would be apreciated! I need to get my regs and wetsuit out of the closet!

Just post a specific day and location you want to go. If someone wants to join you, they will respond. The specifics can be worked out through private messages.

There are a bunch of Chicago divers around the board who do the kind of dives you're looking for. Get your gear serviced, take a quick refresher and start posting for dive buddies.

Hi Titan,
I dive every weekend, I usually do the charters on the Lake, but you are always welcome to join me. I really don't do the quarries now until much later in the season or early in the season.
Drop me a line when you would like to go out.

I have been going to the quarries almost every week (usually on a weekend). If you want to come along sometime just say when.

I'll dive any weekday! In a month or so I'll have weekends off too.

If you are interested, though it may not be worth the drive, we are going to Red Granite to dive on Friday 7/28 and you would be welcome to join us. It'll be a nice mix of experience with a couple of folks who are right out of their OW class. It'd be a great way to get stuff out of the closet. We are leaving from just north of Milwaukee at about 7am. If we have room in the truck you could ride up with us. If not, follow us up. It'll be BBQ and diving, though perhaps not in that order ;)

Otherwise, I'm up for Lake Geneva anytime we can get a boat. If you are thinking of hitting a charter and need a buddy, drop a line. If you want to hit a different quarry, name a day.
