I also posted this in Canon Corner. Hope that's not illegal or something....

I got a nice little camera, Canon a720is, and an Ikelite housing for it. I need to add a strobe and would like a little help.

I found an old post that suggested the Inon 2000 was a great match. tried to get one this week on this board (classifieds), but it seems an Inon Ad adapter is needed for this to work out. I'm new to lights, and don't know if this is a deal breaker or not. I can't find much info.

Is there a slam-dunk strobe for this setup? Would the Inon work with a bit of ingenuity? Anybody got the requisite adapter and looking to make a couple bucks?

A little help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
ed

I will try one more time. Here is an Ikelite housing with a Canon 570. I use dual Inons D2000s. I made my own coupler. I took a piece of .021 aluminum and bent a new deflector. I took an older AD adapter and removed the coupler and then drilled the top flange of my new deflector and inserted the fiber optic coupler. Reef Photo should have couplers though I got mine by getting a flooded housing on Ebay that had the coupler for 5 dollars. Then I resold the housing for 15 dollars, lol.

I use the Inon Clear Photo system concept and cover my camera strobe with exposed, developed film such as this:

I get decent results like this:

It looks like this, here with a single D2000:

But, your results may vary.
