I'm trying to create a cable roughly 18" long that will allow me to connect my Sony HC-7 camcorder with the 10-pin composite video connector to an external LCD monitor that accepts a 3.5 male mini-plug. See the two connector types below:
I bought separate video cables, (1) mini-plug to RCA and (2) RCA to 10-pin, cut part of the cable wires off and tried to connect the mini-plug video wire to the 10-pin connector video wire. However the 10-pin connector had 5 wires (yellow, red, orange, blue and white) coming out of it and they were wrapped with a wire mess (common ground?). I still haven't figured which two are the video pair so I can join them to the wires from the other cable.
Yes, I could spend about $65 to buy one pre-made, but that seems a bit outrageous for what should be (or hopefully will be) a commonly used cable in the world of the Sony HDR HC series HD camcorders.
