I want to preface that this is my 1st post and I am new to diving(still in class) I have done a few resort certified dives and have decided to get into it as a full time hobby....

I live in SoCal and will be diving here 90% of the time...

I have been reading a lot of the threads about regs and although I am becoming more informed I am also becoming more indecisive....

I was given a quote(s) from a LDS(s) for a SP mk25/g250v of 10% off msrp and SP has a deal that includes a free Aladin Prime wrist mount computer($458 msrp)

Is this a fair(good) deal? $600
Is this computer any good?

After reading these threads I'm going to talk to the shops more about the mk17 since I have received a little education and can possibly see thru some of their "sales pitches"

The MK25/G250Vintage is certainly a high-end regulator and getting the Aladin Prime thrown in the deal makes it sweet. The lowest price I see on the net for the Prime is about $365.

The Prime meets the needs of most by having a user-replaceable battery and doing nitrox with PC download capability. I'm not sure if it offers a gauge mode but that would just be more icing on that cake if it did

Good regulator combination. I used it once and liked it, but I am a USD/Apeks/Sunnto diver as my primary equipment. I have friends who use it and have heard only positive comments as I would expect from a brand like SP.

Regarding the prime, I recall reading a similar question a few days ago. Responses seemed pretty good, but I have not used it.
