Hi all-

I lost the velcro retaining strap for my BC's inflator hose. Without it, it floats behind me and is difficult to easily grab.

Any thoughts on what to use as a replacement?

Thanks!

It's difficult for us to suggest a fix if we don't know what kind of BCD you have. A picture of your BCD in the region where the Velcro strap used to be affixed would be ideal.

Some BCDs have a release on the chest area of the shoulder strap. If yours has this, you can thread some innertube cut from a bicycle tire onto your shoulder strap - this is what divers do with a hog harness BP/W setup. Simply slide your inflater hose between the innertube and shoulder strap before you connect it to your power inflater assembly.
One could also substitute a short length of bungee cord (looped around the shoulder strap) for the innertube.
Alternatively, you could purchase a velcro strap and get a shoe repair shop to sew it on for you.

Sorry...more info.

It's a Riptide Zone with the original retainer on the shoulder strap. The original was just a loop of fabric with velcro sewn on.

Bungee cord sound like a good way to go unless someone here posts a better suggestion.

-Thanks!

if you have a D-ring or 2 on that shoulder just run the hose off the reg through the top D-ring and then connect it to the inflator. Its worked for me for the last couple hundred dives on a bp/w with a hog harness so I would imagine it should work on any other bcd with D-rings.

I would just go to a fabric store (or Walmart) and buy a section of wide (2") velcro. Pull apart and position it like a loop (hook & fuzzy sides together) Stitch it together on the bottom then slide it underneath the webbing on the BC and back over your dump. I wish I knew where you were I could do it in a minute....
