I'm scheduled to be in the Visayas next month and need some info regarding the weather.
How would you describe the normal weather in the visayas ? how is it at night and so on.
I've never been in a typhoon before (and I hope I will never be in one) so I don't know what to expect, what to do or not to do.

thx

hi pitri... sorry most of the guys are in anilao and PG partying and diving and photo workshopping... ptth... i'm stuck here...

weather in the visayas is generally milder/ calmer than on luzon island... but i'll let the more experienced guys describe it in better detail...

nigths are... ummmm... well... dark? with stars? the moon out every now and then?

seriously though, temps drop about 3degC at night sometimes less... so on a 32C day, it will probably be 29C at night... generally cool... next month should be cool

typhoons are no biggie... a lot of wind and rain but nothing like you'd see on discovery channel... those don't happen often and when they do the discov crew is there to film it hehehehe... for somebody who hasn't experienced one it's fun i hear (had friends who came from davao where they don't have typhoons... 1st typhoon they had in manila they were in the streets frolicking in the rain)

Thank Shugar,
you got a smile on my face with the discovery channel. I hope I won't see any of them there.

Pitri,

Some how my reply got lost. What parts of the visayas are you going to? I grew up in Samar (am now based in Manila). Northern Samar where I came from used to be the typhoon central. Then again since we (Samar and the Philippines) is on the Eastern most part of Asia and it's where typhoons are built up, the island is used as a reference point when there is one coming... like "500kilometers Southeast of Samar Is." When in reality, the typhoon doesn't even hit the Philippines. Thanks to global warming, we are not as often hit by typhoons... We export typhoons to Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and Japan. =)

Monsoon season should be over soon and we are all looking forward for better weather.

Jag, you should have joined me for a day trip. Didn't go to Aqua but did 2 decos looking for the pygmy seahorses! Posted some pix at the members gallery.

Hi pyrodiver,
We are planning to stay in Cebu and Bohol and maybe negros.
In addition, Can you tell me where did the oil spill hit ? I just read an article that philippines prisoners are giving away their hair in effort to clean the oil spill.

oil spill is in the western part of the visayas... you are clear if you're staying in cebu and bohol

weather there is also generally better than in luzon... again: don't worry too much about the weather

Is it ok to dive in east Negros or there might be a problem there too ?

nope... you should be in the clear on eastern negros... good diving on apo island... if you've got the experience (or the cojones) don't miss COconut Point... it's good enough to be a theme park ride :eyebrow:
