Need opinions on switching to the S2000.

I just purchased a Fix housing for my G12. Previously I had an Olympus SP350 and was using one of the early (probably type 1 or 2) Inon D2000 strobes. I've seriously been considering switching over to the S2000, mainly because of its appealing small size for both carrying on trips and using a fairly compact rig underwater. I rarely use the aiming light on the D2000, but might miss the external auto setting, which I usually use, and I know there is a difference between the T flash and the single bulb.

Has anyone else switched from the d2000 to the s2000, or used both individually (not in a two strobe setup) and if so, were you happy with the switch? Is anyone using a single s2000 with a G12 and getting good results?

I'm more of a diver that takes photos than an "underwater photographer", but I do like to get good photos.

I've not used the D2000 but have used a Z240 and an S2000. The Z240 is considerably more powerful than the S2000. Anecdotally I've heard the D2000 is brighter than the S2000 despite them sharing the same power numbers. I, personally, would stay with the D2000 unless you really need a more compact rig. They are brighter and give better coverage.

Even the Z240 is compact enough and is a great flash. I can see no reason to upgrade a perfectly working flash to something similar why not sell the D2000 and get a Z240?

OTOH Jimmy is right above, why spend money for no improvement? Flashes live forever, camera's cark it.

I just came back from a photo dive trip using a pair of D2000. They are excellent for macro, not so good for wide angle.
Actually, as a result of the experiences on the trip I have already picked up a pre-owned Z240...
