I use an older Seaquest ADVi. It's a good, simple bc. But it has only two rings -- one on each shoulder strap -- used for cinching down for a snugger fit. Anyway, does anybody have some ideas how/where to attach more d-rings so I have a place to secure what otherwise me a "hangy-thingy".

Does it have any sort of waist strap that one could possibly be added to?

If you need D-rings that can attach to a piece of webbing w/o having to dismantle everything, http://www.paragear.com has some load rated ones that go together with screws. I use parachute hardware on my freshwater rigs, I like it. Dunno how it'd hold up to salt water though.

Cave Diver --
it has a cumberbund, and two chest straps -- one high and one lower. These straps are just for keeping the chest area from opening and flapping around, I guess. I fasten them because they're there! I guess I could just slip a ring over one of the straps or maybe sew it on. I'm not keep on trying to sew anything on to the bc itself and create a leaking puncture.

That looks almost exactly like my old Seaquest Spectrum. I took a look at the chest strap and it looks like you can unthread the top of the buckle. If your BC is the same way, you probably can slide the weight retainer and d-ring above the buckle. I think it might end up pretty high on your chest though.

Another option would be to un-stitch or cut the webbing that the plastic pull ring is attached to, unthread the webbing from the buckle, and slide the retainer and ring on there and mount it lower on the BC. This would require you to re-stitch the pull ring back onto the webbing (if you decided to keep the pull rings).

Just a bit of brainstorming...
