Next week is spring break. My son needs to get his ow dives in, and I thought next week would be a great time to do this. :rofl3: I know it's last minute....
I just got back into diving last summer, and want him to have a great first experience...reef dive or something interesting. Dive shop went to Ginnie Springs, but I have not done any fresh water dives. We are driving from NC, and I don't want to drive to the Keys, last dive off Jupiter was really cold and terrible visibility.

Does anyone have a suggestion about where you really like that is in Central to North Fl? (That isn't too cold?)

Meantime, I want to plan on a liveaboard sometime too. I missed one in St Thomas 2 years ago due to a death in the family...ready to try again.

Within reason I would shoot for a meaningful certification. Beach dives in marginal condition will be more benefit than a pool like spring. If anyone is promising an adventure in the springs be careful that he's not being taken on a "trust me" excursion way beyond hos ability. If he really wants to dive he should have a blast anywhere.

How cold is really cold?

LOL I ideally like warm water over 80, but 70 is ok...less than that is miserable for me. OK. so beach dives are great in the Caymans, but I've found that in Fl they can be tricky for visibility. Where do you recommend? When I lived in Stuart, I would not consider anything north of there, but I don't relish a 15 hour drive. Are there any reefs natural or artificial that are good in Central to North Fl?

I just noticed you live in ME...so you probably wonder how I think 70 is cold!!!
