I have an Olympus 5060 that I really like. Have you looked at those brands yet? It does more than I can even comprehend at this point. I am more along the lines of a point and shoot diver and it has options for f-stops and white balance and gosh knows what else. There are a couple of camera forums on this site you may want to look into.

Get something that will grow with your abilities.

WannaLaguna:
Hey All,

I'm just getting into UW photography and want to buy my first digital camera and housing. What would you suggest I look at?

I don't mind spending around 500-600 for both pieces.

thanks.

Here are some threads recently that address this. Maybe you could read some of the comments, then it will help you ask more detailed questions :)

Recently I have been recommending to friends the Canon A series, but I hear a lot about the new Fujis. I know you can get a Canon A95 camera and WP DC50 housing for around $450. Then budget for a 1 Gb compact flash card at around $75 or so.
