When I clip the weigh pocket buckles together, the inner weight pocket is secure from falling out but can't be easily released in case of emergency.

Is there some trick to having both security from accidental release and quick release in an emergency ?

The one time I had to ditch weight with this system, I had no problem hitting the buckles then yanked out & dropped the pouches. I prefer this system because it takes a conscious effort to ditch weight.

I agree with you, satwar, and I ended up getting the newer design. The trouble is that the inner pocket of the new one (the 16 lb version) fell out with a four-pound weight in the pouch. Thankfully, the clip held it, but it was very inconvenient and I see no solution....
