I live in Canada, and I want to go to the Pacific, I was thinking Southern Pacific. I am planning on going for two weeks and I have no idea when next year, as it depends on when my buddy can go, and on when I can get my deep water certification by. I know I want to dive with some sharks, I think it would be incredible to get in the water with some hammerheads. I also know it is very expensive to stay and eat around the southern pacific, so I was think of taking a cruise. and just diving at all the stops. I would like to get 50 dives in on this trip. I know this is very generic, but I need some tips and advice so I can make this trip a good one.

#1... you are talking about 2 week trip and you want to get in 50 dives. You can't do that from any "cruise ship" as most of them are in port for only part of a day and so only 2 dives are possible each day, that means you might get in 10 dives at best in 2 weeks. Are you talking about a liveaboard? On a liveaboard dive boat you can do 25-30 dives per week, but they are costly. Most liveaboards range from $2000-5000 per person, per week.

#2... do you have a price range?

#3....where are you traveling from?

#4.... what time of year?

There are some land-based dive locations where you could do 50 dives in 2 weeks, but that would be pushing it. The best way to do this is to go to a resort that offers both boat dives and shore diving right at resort.

Just a handful of dives, you might want to walk before you run? You could go to a place like Roatan, Coco View resort in Honduras, and get in close to 50 dives in two weeks and most likely see some reef sharks and do some great boat and shore dives and not spend near as much money as a lieaboard in the South Pacific. Lot's of sharks can mean lot's of current too and advanced diving so be careful you don't get in over your head right off the bat?

Oh Yeah, my bud kinda wants to go to Belize and dive the big hole, but I don't know...

My bit of advice, assuming that this is not a troll, is to focus .....FOCUS. Fewer than 24 dives, not advanced, dive with sharks, dive in the Southern Pacific (is this Tahiti or southern California?), dive the Blue Hole (Belize is in the Caribbean by the way), worried about the expense, 50 dives in two weeks.......... let's get a tighter grip here with more realistic goals.

Before we jump in the OP's "stuff" so to speak.
Perhaps the facts are that the OP does not know what he does not know - thus the unrealistic expectations.

To the OP - the above advise about COCO View is pretty good. That would be a good first dive trip - you can dive your brains out and the price is good.

COCO View is on Roatan which is an island owned by Honduras in Central America. Delta and Continental both fly direct to the island from the USA

CoCoView is a great place to dive, and dive a lot. Variety of environments available from the shore and good accommodations.

Well, I may may be a bit inexperienced. But i am a very athletic a very intelligent person. As well, the buddy i am diving with is a dive master. So that does change a few dynamics. I realize cruise ships limit dive times... but staying at resorts and hotels in the pacific is extremely expensise. I live in british columbia Canada, And we do plan a 2 week trip, and my budget for this trip is 4500-5000. CAD.

we made coco view our first dive resort trips. it is one of our fondest dive trips . they dont cater to much else . you are well fed , we dive and the front yard( reef) is great if you dont want to do the boat thing . the accomadations are modest but more than adaquate . the service is top notch we cant wait to go back . we are waiting till our son is twelve as they dont allow children
