how true. nothing against the lechon quality of manila but cebu's definitely better. u can eat it without the help of the sauce whatsoever.

From down town Cebu to the airport, you will see them on the side of the road... They're really yummy!!! One whole piggy is $50 so little slabs should cost from $3 up...

When you try the ones from Cebu, you won't even like the ones from Manila... Enjoy!!!

then you will have time to fancy the famous lechon (roasted pig) of cebu!! One of the best in the Philippines...QUOTE]

Do you have any restaurants to can recommend for this delicacy? I'll be passing thru Cebu a few times on my next trip. Thanks.
hehehe... i hope you're not hypertensive... that stuff can get addictive very fast

@jason: take our word for it, cebu lechon is the best...manila lechon forget it. i'll post the name of the resto tomorrow (i can't recall the name). i recall this particular resto has a branch at SM cebu food court as well.

I think you made a good choice splitting your time between Alona and Southern Leyte. With 12 days you'll have more than enough time to see the best that each has to offer. To get to Southern Leyte from Tagbileran, just take the 12:40 PM Ocean Jet Ferry to Cebu and then the 5:30 PM Kinswell Ferry to Bato. From Bato, it's a 30-40 minute drive to the resorts. Any of the resorts can arrange pick-up from the ferry pier. It's a long day of traveling, but it's quite doable.

In terms of food, that at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort (www.sogodbayscubaresort.com) is really superb. Definitely some of the best that I had during my 4 trips to the Philippines. If you want a bit of variety, Peter's Dive Resort is right next door and has decent food as well.

Thanks manhattandiver. This is very good information. Also can I find lechon near where the ferry dock is located? Thanks

the pier is pretty closer(r) to city proper so there shouldn't be a problem scouting for lechon. besides, traffic is not bad in cebu. definitely not like manila. phew.

enjoy the holidays soon, crew! :)
