My husband and I are going on a cruise next January to the Mexican Riviera and we will be in La Paz on February 4th. I'm looking for a shop that caters to experienced divers (in his case, very, very experienced) and would also take us to the whale sharks. Actually, being able to swim with the whale sharks again takes precedence over the diving for me. We don't need a guide, only a dive boat.

I dove La Paz back in December 2010, but failed to write down the name of the dive shop. My friends and I originally booked with Club Cantemar, but when we got there, they had a problem and sent us to another shop. I don't remember the name of that shop, unfortunately. I probably would not want to go back to Club Cantemar considering the lack of communication and problems that day.

This will be a one-day dive only. Any suggestions?

I've heard a lot of good about Fun Baja but can't say first hand. We used Club Cantamar a few years ago and were not impressed, although they are located closer to the dive sites. We plan to return to La Paz one day so I'm interested in what you find.

Cannot recommend Trevor Brown and Solitude Divers highly enough. What you described is exactly the type of diving Solitude caters too. Experienced divers, small groups only. Get in touch with Trevor: trevorjcbrown@gmail.com You will not regret it
