I'm a Fish!
I am leaving Friday for the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean and will be there for 7 days. I hope to get a few dives in while I'm there.

Other than snorkling while in Kauai, I have yet to have an opportunity to actually scuba dive in the ocean, and was wondering if anyone had any information on St. Kitts in particular, or possibly any other tips or advice. Being unfamiliar with the area, I assume it would be best to find a dive shop that will guide divers to a certain area and provide the gear. I want to take my personal gear, but for this trip I really need to pack very light, so I am considering only taking my own mask and gloves, and probably leaving the rest at home.

Any helpful comments are appreciated. Thanks...

Good evening,
I dove with Pro divers earlier this month. They were very good to dive with, had a guide/dive master on every dive.
Here is a link to their site.

I am not sure if they are back from vacation as of yet. They went on vacation Sunday the 7 th of August.

You can also try these guys, but I don't know anything about them.

Diving St Kitts is on the easy side. If you stay with your guide, you will be just fine.
Not as much to see in St Kitts as there is in Hawaii, but still nice dives.

Enjoy your trip.
Where are you staying ?

Also avoid the italian restaurant named Ciao not far from the Marriott hotel , service and food were sub par.

Thank you for the information. I will check into those dive shops and avoid Ciao's. I will be staying at a private residence while there. After this trip, I'll most likely be flying back to St. Kitt's a few more times over the next couple of years, so I'm going to try to dive as often as I can. Again, thanks for the information. Tips on restaurants, etc. are also always helpful.

I have made several trips to St. Kitts and dove with Pro Dive and Dive St. Kitts. Mike at Dive St. Kitts was really helpful and accommodating. The diving was nice-- not spectacular but my daughter, husband and I all have enjoyed diving there.

For dinner try Rock Lobster, Buddies, and Shiggidy Shack. Buddies and Shiggidy Shack are on the beach. Rock Lobster is next door to Ciao.

Also the coffee flavored Rum sure is good.

The catamaran trip to Nevis was also a nice way to spend the day. We went out with Leeward Island charters. It was $75.00 per person with a lunch on Nevis, and open bar.

Thanks to all for the information.

Turns out I will be there for about 11 days, so I'll have a bit more time to check out a few sights and also burn a few tanks.

Any other helpful information things to do or avoid are again appreciated.

I'll see how it all goes, and hopefully the hurricane that's moving through the area will not affect the travel plans - thanks again all...
