Hello,

I’m in the market for a uw mirrorless camera setup. I currently do not own any mirrorless camera/lens so I’m very flexible with options. I had a very good experience with NEX-5N in Nauticam housing which I borrowed from my friend for my last diving trip so originally I was looking at the NEX-6 or NEX-7 cameras but a very limited lens choice moved me towards m43 world. It looks like the new E-M-1 is the queen here and it should be a very logical choice. My only concern is video. DPreview review is quite disappointing based on their test shooting but what about the real life performance especially uw ones?

The next question is the lens selection. The new 12-40/2.8 looks good but do I need it if I plan to have at least a separate macro and wide angle lenses anyway? What would you recommend for wide angle one - OLY 9-18 or PAN 7-14?

Thank you,
Vitaly

Look for posts by Phil Ruden and Jack Connick here in the Olympus forum. They have been introducing the Oly cameras as they make their marketing debuts.

You may want to provide some details about your current camera set up and where you want to go with your u/w photography. If video is a major concern you may want to consider going that way with one of the incredible compact video cameras now out there.
