Need Advice On DACOR ENDURO Quick!

Hey all,

My LDS sent out an email to it's students that they got in a large shipment of DACOR ENDURO BCD's that were only used once (if at all) that they are selling at cut rate ($149 each) Rodale doesnt set the Dacor line as its top picks ever but still has good things to say about them.

This price seems to be about 50% or more off normal price plus as a student there I get an additional 10% off.

Anyone use this BCD? Is this a good deal for a good BCD? what about if I were just to keep it as a spare?

Any advice would be helpful as I would like to buy it (or not) by Tomorrow afternoon Eastern Time.

That's what you are looking for. Don't buy it just because it's cheap.

Well, Against advice, I bought it just because it was cheap and far better than the rentals at my LDS. It has everything I want except weight integration. It does have trim weight pockets though in the kidney area.

Will try it out this weekend and let y'all know how it performs.

(What I really want is the Seaquest Pro-QD but that is far out of my price range at the moment.)

Use the Dacor Enduro till you can afford the Seaquest Pro-QD and then sell the Dacor and pretty much get your money back selling it as second hand!

If you do any pool work.....

The Pro QD is a beautiful BC when it is black and silver, but it loses some of it's affect when chlorine bleached to brown, so keep the Dawhore for pool work (If you do any).

Dacor is a great manufacturer of cheap scuba equipment, from what I have seen. It is one of those "good for what they are good for, and that ain't a lot" situations. It appears that Mares will sell the good stuff, and Dacor will sell similar stuff with fewer bells and whistles for cheaper. It is good starter equipment, though, because most people who buy it want ot move up and get something better.

I work at a dive shop that does not carry either of these brands, and I do not see many good things about the Dacor stuff from the past couple of years. We get stuff serviced, but it always presents an excellent opportunity for new gear sales. In fact, most people who come to our shop to buy new gear bought some Dacor cheap or off of eBay.

Just for your info, we sell mostly SCUBAPRO regs(even though Apeks is catching on), and Seaquest or Tekkie BC's.

Well spent the weekend Quarry diving with the Dacur Enduro BCD.

The trim weight pockets in the back are excellentfor reducing your weight belt dig. I dive with 16lbs in the 7mm suit, hood, gloves, and booties in this environment. It was great to put 6 to 8 of those pounds in the BCD.

The Low Pressure inflation takes quite a bit of pressure to start inflating. And 80% of the time doubles as an unnintentional "atention" whistle because it makes a low pitched buzz while inflating! So soft touch infaltion for minor bouancy adjustment is difficult. Quick dumps work very well however for descent and rapid control of escallating ascent.

Oral inflation was the best I have experenced yet. No leakage so no wasted breath. The mouth piece for this is slightly inconvient though.

The 6 D rings made streamlining my hoses and equipment very easy. Two velcro front pockets came in handy for toting dive buddy's fin shape protectors she forgot to take out before getting to the water and other items like gloves etc.

All in all, for the $150 that I paid for this BC it was well worth it (for a starting outfit). I expect to get a lot of use outof it durring practice dives and further training.

Definately want to get something alittle more substantial when going "pro" diving.

But hey, if the BC works well in general you 've got a great buy there.
