That's the rumour and yet I see it's done all the time with commercial vessels so I guess adherence to the superstition isn't all what it's cracked up to be.

I work in a sign shop and this woman came in and got some letters for a buoy on her boat. The name of the boat was 'Miss Mymoney'

I'd call my boat Hectocotylus (the name of the male octopus' reproductive arm). However, some people seem to think it's hard to pronounce.
