After reading this whole thread, some about the closeness to the cruise ships and some about SMBs, I had to stop and think about the SMB's. I was on a dive in Cozumel and the DM had released his SMB and we were just floating along at 30 ft, because of a couple of air hogs. He wanted to show a few of us a turtle that was sleeping. I cut in behind the coral and the DMs SMB prevented him from stopping. The DM was pulled away from me by the current. The other divers were wisked away also. I deployed my own SMB when I was done taking pictures and met the others on the boat.
