A very sad ending to this accident, from today's San Diego Union Tribune, RIP:
MILLER, CLARE SHAMER Clare Shamer Miller passed away on October 6, 2009, in the loving arms of her family from complications of a scuba diving accident. She arrived February 12, 1944. She was a sister, mother, grandmother, teacher, counselor, equestrian and a feisty lover of life. In her spare time she raised Arabian horses and earned two master degrees. During her retirement she captured all that life had to offer, including dancing, sports, painting, photography, bridge, parties and travel. In honor of her true spirit of life, her family encourages everyone to sing, dance, play and enjoy the beauty of the world in every moment. All her family and friends will miss her fun filled spirit. Her daughter Marie, son Mark, his six children, sisters Kay and Gayle, survive Clare. Her parents Capt. Frank and Sally Shamer USN predecease her. Memorial services in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 1675 Seven Oaks Road, Escondido, CA 92026. Donations in honor of Clare may go to Friends of Arabian Horses Rescue 760- 240- 8928
