Anyone here do any Cod fishing off their own boats? Looking for help with areas I should try. I'm not asking for "secret spots" but if you have GPS coordinates of the areas I should look at, I would appreciate it. Feel free to send me where all the the other guys go. I know all about protecting my "spots" ;) Thanks.

P.S. Since I trailer my boat, I can launch wherever there's a landing.

I've had some luck about a mile or 2 to the southeast of Graves Light. Usually early in the year. I prefer to fish cod using norwegian jigs. Less messy than bait and seem to work well.
Also a lot of people fish cod and stripers just east of Deer Island and to the left of the north channel. I've caught mostly small cod there.
I was fishing to the east of Nantasket early fall and caught nothing but sandsharks.

Lately I've taken the attitude that it's MUCH cheaper and easier to buy fish from the store and scuba dive and suntan instead! Boat stays much cleaner that way too!

There aren't many secret cod spots on the North Shore. You can catch them almost anywhere around Cape Ann. I've caught them right outside the Eastern Point breakwater and betweeh the HB buoy and the breakwater off Rockport.

The secret is catching keepers.

Best bets for those is the NE corner of Stellwagen. This is about 15mi from Gloucester harbor and about 110' deep. Jeffrey's ledge, which starts about 5 miles off Thatcher's island is also good. Just look for some humps.

A lot of guys go out farther and fish deeper. That's up to you and your equipment.
