Short question, is it worth it?

What are the odds it will get blown out? My daughter's spring break is early March I am trying to find a place to go that will keep everyone happy (yeah I know, good freakin luck). I am looking at RCI places and there is some availability in Nags head and Kill Devil Hills.

Input?

Thanks

It still pretty cold on the outter banks in March. If I were coming to NC I would at least head farther south to the Wilmington area. Odds of getting blow out, 50/50 at best and we don't call a trip unless the seas get 6ft or better. Unless you just have to come to NC, I would head to Fla but I hate cold water. If you decide to come, drop over to www.NCdivers.com Good chance you can round up a good local buddy if you need one, the pick ups on the charters here can range from great to down right scary.

March is VERY dicey...season is really May to October BUT you can get some good diving in all year round if you can find an operator that will go out.

I can also give you some great ops out of Morehead City, NC! (Been diving there for 12 years 3-5 times a year!)

I live here in Morehead City/Beaufort, NC and work for a local charter service. Late March/ early April is bordering on the beginning of our season here. As was mentioned previously, the further south the better if temps are a concern. The OBX is affected more by the Labordor Current where MHC / Wilmington are subjected to the Gulf Stream. That's not to say it won't be cold that time of year wherever you go. I would expect temps in the lower to mid 60's for the majority of the wrecks. The good thing is viz is usually at it's best. If you request some of the wrecks closer to the stream, you might get a little warmer. Also late spring storms are just about as unpredictable as some of my ex-girlfriends. You'll never know what the weather is going to do. It might be slick calm or it might be rougher than 40 hells. Were it me, I'd elect to head to Fla. or the Carib. for spring break. But that's just my .02 worth... Let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you.
